Grade 4 teaming up for the Bottoms - up activity . It was a prior knowledge test conducted to create enthusiasm and increase the vigor towards learning further types of nouns. they were asked to mind map the word NOUN with all their knowledge gained in  previous years.

they all enjoyed the activity and came up with different opinions but all having a similar meaning.

our unit began with the tuning in activity  where I splitted the unit details viz; the central idea, line of inquiries , concepts , etc into different call outs asking the students to sort  and discover which statement or related word will be placed where on the Unit Theme board.
this activity gave the students an opportunity to work as a team together with each other and as the new session had just begun they all got a chance to interact and  exchange ideas.

here we have the sorting out activity where initially the students were provoked by throwing out cut outs of images displaying some real life needs and wants Students were asked to make 2 groups and pick up images understand them and classify them into needs and wants. Then they were asked to paste pictures on a T-chart under headers of needs and wants. Each student was asked to give reason for the image they pasted under  particular header .

Following the above process they had to tell which need/ want is their right what is their responsibility towards obtaining that particular right.

The above activities led them to complete understanding of the concept of needs and wants and the difference between them. they were able to bring out their own definitions of rights and responsibilities.
also some of them cited examples of daily life where they have been responsible and also are getting their rights holistically.

here before moving on to the LOI s we again participated in a Finding Out activity where students were given images with caption, all the images displayed different rights declared by the UN declaration of right and UNICEF. which are mandatory for all the UN s to follow and provide to the children of their country.

Students worked in groups exchanged pictire tried to figure out which image belongs t whih group like well being, safety, awareness, health etc.
